About Istanbul
Istanbul is a vibrant place to visit at any time of the year. Spring and autumn are excellent months to travel as the temperature is around 61 - 77°F and its not too humid. During July and August the temperate rises to about 86°F with little rainfall.
There is a high demand for property in Istanbul and according to the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) there is a need for as many as 350k new properties to be constructed each year to keep up with the demand. It is estimated that there are around 700k new residents every year arriving in Turkey and rental yields are between 7 - 10%. Even though property prices are still reasonable Istanbul has the 4th highest number of billionaires after Moscow, London and New York.
There are plenty of places in Istanbul to have a drink or a meal. You could splash out in one of the super clubs along the Bosphorus some of which are very expensive. Alternatively you could try one of the many rooftop bars instead. They offer a relaxed atmosphere where you can listen to live music and have a drink and a dance.

If you fancy a bit of shopping then the Grand Bazaar (Kapalicarsi) is the place to be with over 4300 shops running along 5 miles of passageways. It opens from 10am and is the best place for silver, gold, leather and carpets. Not far is the Spice Bazaar which is another great place to visit, here you can buy anything from soup, nuts, herbs, spices and tea. Just outside from here there is an outdoor area selling plants, seeds and every type of bird imaginable. It's a fantastic place to wander around and view the exciting things on display. Remember you have to haggle if you are buying anything.
Another wonderful ceremony to witness is the Whirling Dervish Ceremony which is held at the Galata Mehlevihane. The ceremony last about 2 hours and the first part of a mix of melodies, harmonies and percussion. This is followed by the dancers, about 15 all dressed in black gowns and wearing headdresses. The dancers then show their colourful costumes whilst twirling in unison. Definitely a sight not to be missed.
