About Cesme
The town of Cesme which means fountain is a popular destination that offers something for everyone. Cesme still has a good traditional atmosphere of a true Turkish town but with a few modern facilities thrown in.
If you like shopping you can pick up good quality carpets and leather goods when you wander around the cobbled shopping district. There is also a large market held at Sifne which is about 15km from Cesme.
Of an evening most people head for the promenade where you can find cafes, bars, restaurants and discos. The atmosphere is good and can be lively during busy times. If you like good music Inkilas Caddesi is a must.
If you feel like exploring why not hire a yachts and sail along the beautiful coast. The waters are excellent for snorkelling and swimming and have an average temperature of 18 degrees. Cesme is also an excellent location for water sports such as surfing and sailing and every year Cesme holds an International Windsurfing Race. If you want something a bit more relaxing the white sand beaches should tempt you, they are cooled by a welcoming summer breeze.
There is also a weekly ferry service which sails to Venice and a daily service to Chois one of the Greek Islands which is only 8 miles away.
Not far from Cesme is Ilica where you can visit the thermal baths which are extremely popular, one of the best is found at Sifne Bay. It is believed their natural properties can help many ailments such as rheumatism, gout and inflammation of the joints. They also have a mud bath available which is great for the skin, they are also open all year.
