About Bodrum
Bodrum has a deep history going back thousands of years. Originally known as Halicarnassus it is one of Turkey's most established and well known resorts. Being only 25 minutes from Bodrum's International Airport it's an excellent choice for a place in the sun with year round activities and entertainment.
Over the past few decades Bodrum has expanded and is now known as one of Turkeys most established cosmopolitan resorts. It is well known for it's nightlife but also offers fantastic places to eat out as well. There is a great choice of open air restaurants, cafes and bistros close to the marina. This is definitely a place for those who like a lively atmosphere. Many people visit from the surrounding resorts making it busy during summer months.
The streets near the bazaar and main shopping area are pedestrianised making it an enjoyable place to wander around. You can buy souvenirs, leather goods and carpets at reasonable prices.
At Bodrum Marina you can hire a boat for a leisurely sail. Don't worry if your captain skills are a bit rusty boats can also be hired with a crew on board.

The castle at Bodrum was built on Zephyrion Island in the 15th century and took 99 years to complete. Located in the castle is the Underwater Archaeological Museum of Bodrum. This is believed to be one of the biggest and most important museums in the world. It houses some of the world's oldest ships and is home to a number of cultural festivals throughout the year.
Other places of historical interest include the Mausoleum Open Air Museum which was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Also Gumupluk is worth a visit and is one of the oldest settlements on the peninsular. Here you can still see the remains of the old harbour wall which lies underwater.
Located just outside Bodrum is Torba, a small quiet village that has one of the best beaches in the area.
