About Akbuk

Akbuk is a small peaceful resort roughly 10km from Altinkum and only 45 minutes from Bodrum airport. Akbuk is a traditional fishing town quietly sitting between the crystal clear waters and fantastic mountains making is the ideal place to buy a property abroad. It has gently built up its tourist trade over the years and looks set to becoming a luxury resort. Surrounded by protected forests and olive groves this natural environment is the perfect place to buy.

Property prices are fairy reasonable and considered to be a good investment. At the moment high builds are not allowed in Akbuk and the layout of the resort means that most of the properties are only a short walk to the beach.

There are a number of small beaches and bays nearby to relax in and soak up the hot sun and clean air. Akbuk has the highest oxygen ratio and lowest humidity in all of Turkey.

Fishing plays a big part in Akbuk and there are many lovely restaurants, bistros and cafes along the seafront where you can relax and enjoy the catch of the day. Prices are very reasonable and the food is local and fresh. Some of the fishing boats offer boat trips along the coast during the summer. The local market is on twice a week selling fresh produce and there is also a nearby supermarket.

If you're feeling a bit energetic why not try one of the many local activities that are available such as fishing, hunting, tracking or sea sports such as sailing or wind surfing.

If you like sightseeing then there are many places to explore. The Temple of Apollo at Didyma is nearly 3000 years old and still standing. The temple is the twin of Artemision which is one of the 7 wonders of the world. Another great place to visit is the old harbour City of Priene which is now 10 miles from the sea. It is thought the city changed its location when the Meander River silted up and threatened to bury the town. The original location of Priene is still a mystery.
